James Sweet, Professor in the Department of History at UW-Madison, joins University Place Presents host Norman Gilliland to discuss the history of Africans brought to the Americas beginning in the 1500s. Sweet highlights the variety of jobs and the differences in status the slaves held depending on where they were living in North, South and Central America.
