“Extraordinary Hmong” by Ka Vang

Ka Vang was born on a CIA military base in Laos months before the end of the Vietnam War. In addition to writing poems, Vang is a playwright. She says she wrote “Extraordinary Hmong” in response to Maya Angelou’s poem “Extraordinary Woman.” This clip is from a 2013 episode of Twin Cities PBS’ much-honored arts program “MN Original.”
